Description	The most difficult part of TCM herbal medicine is to combine pharmaceuticals & nutraceuticals with herbs safely. The goal of this class is to implement a classical concept of TCM thinking than describing modern medicinal substances. Selected western pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals will be discussed in detail, including channels entered, taste, actions, indications, contraindications, rationale, and modifications. (Example: Lipitor is a warm, phlegm-transforming substance that enters HT, LV, SP, and K channels). The ability to envision a drug in TCM terms provides clear practical guidelines on possible drug/herb interaction for TCM practitioners, leading to improved safety of TCHM integration into the modern Western healthcare system.
